Temple Saison

Continuing the theme of Australian made Belgian styles is Temple Saison.

A Saison is traditonally a Wallonian (French speaking part of Belgium) farmhouse brewed ale.

Temple have taken the traditional recipe and added a lot of interesting ingredients, I think I read something about Brazilian pepper among other things.

The result? A very crisp, drinkable ale which does not taste as if its been aggressively hopped.

The additional ingredients are subtle, but they are there, giving kind of a slightly floral feel with a tinge of berry.

It is most definitely repeatable, but I think it is more of a summer beer, than something you would be downing during the depths of a Melbourne winter. That said, it went down pretty well with Beef Rendang and Roti on a day when the temperature only hit a max of 10C....
