Alpha Pale Ale
There is nothing like finding something new. Today I found two new things. I received an email from a friend no subject and only a URL in the body of the note;
This site is definitely NSFW. Given I work from home, not so big a problem. That was an hour wasted where I should have been working. This is the funniest site I have seen in a long time. Completely juvenile.
Found out later they have an iphone app as well....
Later that day, I discovered the second thing. Alpha Pale ale. Matilda Bay Brewing company had me at Fat Yak, yet here was something new and exciting.
Alpha Pale Ale is Fat Yak's slightly less exuberant older sibling. There remains an unmistakable citrus element, yet this time offset with a hint of bitterness. If I had to explain the taste using a metaphor this one would be "roast pear" (a foot in the citrus camp plus a little bittersweet from the roasting).
It is isn't often you find two things that bring you immense joy in a single day.
My thanks to the webmasters at textsfromlastnight.com and the brewers at Matilda Bay.

Alpha Pale Ale?
Is there any type of food you could cook with it as I am cooking alot of recipes in my slow cooker using beer or ale.
Feel free to pass on any good tips here too - thanks for another great blog posting.
Fat friend.
On tap, the Taphouse in St Kilda, bottle - Dan Murphy's has it. Need to have a think about the food. Probably go well with a mature cheddar or sheeps milk cheese. Good luck with the slow cooker. You will be brewing your own beer next.
